Carly Pearce is the top emerging act in the U.S., as the country singer-songwriter climbs 3-1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart (dated Nov. 4). Pearce hits No. 1 on the strength of her debut album Every Little Thing, which opens at No. 4 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 32 on the Billboard 200 with 15,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music, following its Oct. 13 release.
The Emerging Artists chart uses the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard‘s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
The title track and lead single from Pearce’s album concurrently hits a new peak on the Hot Country Songs chart at No. 5 and the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 50. The song rises in all metrics, sporting 38 million radio audience impressions (up 3 percent); 3.5 million streams (up 2 percent); and 26,000 downloads sold (up 136 percent).
Digital song sales contribute the largest share of Pearce’s Emerging Artists chart points (37 percent), followed by album sales (33 percent). She is the second country act in as many months to top the chart, following Midland (Sept. 9).
Dua Lipa dips 1-2 on Emerging Artists; still, her single “New Rules” becomes her first top 40 hit on the Hot 100, at No. 38. Russell Dickerson jumps 10-3 as the country singer’s debut album Yours arrives at No. 5 on Top Country Albums and No. 39 on the Billboard 200. Rounding out the Emerging Artists chart’s top five, LANCO drops 2-4 (as the country group’s single “Greatest Love Story” bullets at No. 6 on Hot Country Songs) and rapper GoldLink rises 6-5.
Also in the Emerging Artists top 10, Stick to Your Guns debuts at No. 8, as the California punk group’s new album True View opens at No. 12 on Top Rock Albums and No. 71 on the Billboard 200.
