Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ Leads Midweek U.K. Chart

For the first time, "Havana" takes in the lead in the race to No. 1.

After three weeks in the runner-up position, Camila Cabello has the U.K. chart crown in her sights. The Havana, Cuba-born U.S. pop singer’s hit “Havana” (Epic/Syco) climbs 2-1 on the midweek chart, with a 3,500 combined sales lead over the second-placed “Rockstar” (Republic Records) by Post Malone featuring 21 Savage, which is unseated from the chart throne after four weeks. It’s the first time that “Havana” has led the Official Chart Update

Meanwhile, Marshmello and Khalid’s “Silence” (RCA) is unchanged at No. 3, Avicii and Rita Ora’s collab “Lonely Together” (Positiva) is unmoved at No. 4 and Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” (Asylum) rises one place to No. 5. Rita Ora could snaffle a second top 10 when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published this Friday as “Anywhere” (Atlantic) leaps 20-6, just up from Charlie Puth’s “How Long” (Atlantic), which follows a similar trajectory by soaring 18-7.

It’s anything but a soft week for Marshmello. The EDM star backs up his “Silence” hit with “Wolves” (Interscope), a collaboration with Selena Gomez which bites into the chart at No. 14 for the highest debut on the current midweek survey.

On the midweek albums tally, Stereosonics set the pace with Scream Above The Sounds, the Welsh chart favorites’ 10th studio album. Scream Above The Sounds (Parlophone) has shifted 34,000 units and has an advantage of 11,000 combined chart sales over Michael Ball & Alfie Boe’s second album, Together Again (Decca).

Should Stereosonics hold their lead when the chart is published Friday, they’ll earn a seventh career No. 1, a feat placing them alongside ColdplayTake That and Westlife.

Completing the top 5 on the Chart Update are, respectively, Gregory Porter’s Nat King Cole & Me (Blue Note), which could give the U.S. jazz vocalist his highest chart position; George Michael’s leader from last week, Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (Sony Music CG); and Pink’s Beautiful Trauma (RCA).
