Calum Scott’s cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own” debuts at No. 1 on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind, following its appearance in the 10th episode of the first season of DC’s Stargirl.
Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music during the corresponding period of July 2020.
Stargirl, which premiered in May, aired its 10th episode, “Brainwave Jr.,” on July 20, airing first on DC Universe and then on The CW.
“Dancing on My Own” racked up 10.5 million U.S. on-demand streams in July 2020, along with 3,000 digital downloads, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
A pair of songs featured in the premiere of Netflix’s Warrior Nun, Frank Ocean’s “Pink + White” and Billie Eilish’s “Ilomilo,” follow at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, after the show first aired on July 2.
In July 2020, “Pink + White” earned 7.8 million streams, while “Ilomilo,” concurrently Eilish’s alternative radio single at the time, snagged 6.2 million.
Six of the final seven spots of the latest Top TV Songs chart are taken by material from Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, which premiered its second season on the final day of July. Kiss’ “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” which appeared in the season’s fourth episode, leads the way at No. 4 with 3.8 million streams in July 2020. The show is expected to figure into the August 2020 list as well.
