Unfortunately for Cage the Elephant fans, the band canceled the remainder of their European tour on Thursday (June 13). The upcoming Europe dates from June 12-20 are canceled, while the North American tour starting in July is still set to take place.

The cancellation was due to an onstage accident for guitarist Nick Bockrath.

“Nick sustained a pretty gnarly knee injury that will need medical attention,” lead vocalist/guitarist Matthew Shultz wrote on Twitter. “On the bright side his injury is not beyond disrepair and in fact, God willing, we will be back and ready for the Night Running Tour.

“For all our European friends, we have already booked another run in Europe with even more dates and in areas that weren’t on this run. More details will be announced as soon as possible.”

Shultz went on to remind fans that they’ve never had to cancel a show before and that it was a hard thing to do.

“Thank you so so much for all the love and support over the years. We love you all so much, you may never know how much you mean to me personally and certainly the group as a whole as well.”
