Creative Artists Agency has promoted CFO James Burtson to president of the Hollywood talent agency.
Carol Sawdye, a former COO of the global PwC network of firms, will also join CAA as its new chief financial officer. Richard Lovett, Kevin Huvane and Bryan Lourd will continue on as CAA co-chairmen.
“The primary role of CAA president is understanding that leading is actually serving, and throughout his tenure with CAA, Jim has been tireless in his pursuit of furthering the company’s interests,” said Lovett in a statement.
Burtson’s new role also comes as CAA expands into the media, sports and technology spaces, beyond traditional representation of Hollywood actors.
Burtson, who joined the marquee Hollywood agency in 2015 after working at Time Warner, added in his own statement: “In an ever more global and complex environment, there has never been more demand for CAA’s insight and services. We will continue to invest in expanding our capabilities and operations to meet the challenges of the changing business landscape while creating and capturing broader opportunities for our clients and partners.”
