Spoon, Polyphonic Spree, Texas Senate Candidate Beto O’Rourke Slated for Inaugural Buffalo Tree Festival in Dallas

The inaugural festival will take place over Main Street Garden in downtown Dallas on Oct. 7.

The inaugural Buffalo Tree Festival will take over Dallas’ Main Street Garden on Oct. 7 with set from Spoon, The Polyphonic Spree, Bobby Sessions, Sarah Jaffe, Sparta, The Tontons, Sunshine Village and more. The event, presented by the Homegrown Festival in partnership with Dylan Silvers (The Polyphonic Spree) and the Dallas County Democratic Party will be an all-ages, family-friendly music and political engagement festival that will mix bands and Democratic candidates for a day of music and democracy in action.

Among the candidates scheduled to make appearances are 2018 Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke, Congressional candidate Colin Allred, gubernatorial candidate Lupe Valdez and Texas Ag Commissioner candidate Kim Olson. “This event is not about just one concert. We want to inspire people to take action all the way to the voting booth on November 6th,” said Silvers in a statement announcing the event. In addition to food and drinks, the concert will feature roaming mariachi bands, on-site voter registration and booth from groups including Human Rights Campaign, Annie’s List, Moms Demand Action and Next Generation League of Progressive Voters.

The Texas GOP recently attempted to troll O’Rourke over the El Paso native’s younger days as bassist for the punk band Foss, which also featured future Mars Volta/At The Drive-In member Cedric Bixler-Zavala.
