The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Wikipedia. The chart’s methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers with artist page views and engagement. The chart’s latest tracking week ended Oct. 24.
50 weeks prior, BTS became the second act ever to rule the chart for 100 weeks. The K-pop group has led the Social 50 each week beginning with the July 29, 2017, list, after initially ruling the tally for the first time on the Oct. 29, 2016, list.
Only Justin Bieber has more weeks at No. 1 on the Social 50 than BTS; the pop singer has led for 163 weeks since February 2011. Perhaps fittingly, he’s also the last artist to rule the Social 50 that wasn’t BTS, doing so on the July 22, 2017, chart.

The Nov. 2-dated Social 50 finds BTS leading the chart despite a 37% drop in overall social metrics for the week ending Oct. 24. The group, whose remix of its song “Make It Right” with Lauv was released Oct. 18, snagged 9.8 million Twitter mentions and 4.2 million Twitter reactions, according to Next Big Sound.
