Broccoli City and Live Nation Urban are teaming to present the sixth annual Broccoli City Festival with headliners Migos, Miguel and Cardi B at the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds in Washington, D.C. on April 28.

The event marks Live Nation Urban’s first year as a partner with the independent production after launching last May under the direction of The Roots and Jill Scott manager Shawn Gee with the intent of better catering to the genre’s underserved audiences.

The 2018 Broccoli City lineup also includes Daniel Caesar, H.E.R., Nipsey Hussle, Rich The Kid and more.

“I’ve personally been tracking the growth of Broccoli City over the past few years,” said Gee in a statement. “The work that [co-founders Brandon McEachern and Marcus Allen] have done with the brand, not only building a festival but at the same time engaging and empowering the community, is amazing. We are looking forward to working with them to help further build out the vision and scale the brand.”

Preceding the event will be the second annual Broccoli City Week seven-day incubator wit a focus on community that provides a platform for socio-political consciousness with activities including 5K city runs, action events and an all-night art escape leading up to the festival.

“We realize how important it is to keep this event alive,” said McEachern in a statement. “We know people who may never make it to a Coachella, or any of the mainstream festivals. But they will always have Broccoli City. We do this for the community first.”
