Bob Seger will be named Billboard’s 2015 Legend of Live honoree at the 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, held Nov. 18-19 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
The Legend of Live title is given to professionals who have had significant and lasting impact on the touring industry. Last year’s winner was Lionel Richie and Elton John, Neil Diamond, George Strait and Ozzy Osbourne are among those previously honored.
“Bob Seger is one of the most enduring live acts of all time and we are thrilled to honor him as our 2015 Legend of Live,” said Ray Waddell, executive director, content and programming for Touring & Live Entertainment, Billboard. “While he has written and recorded some of the most beloved songs in rock history, Mr. Seger spent years grinding it out in the Midwest before he exploded into the national consciousness with one of the greatest live albums ever in 1975’s Live Bullet. He has been packing arenas ever since, right through his triumphant 2014-2015 Ride Out tour and is a true Legend of Live.”
Seger, 70, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012. Over his more than 50-year career, he has sold more than 52 million albums and earned 13 platinum and seven multi-platinum RIAA-certified sales awards.
The two-day Billboard Touring Conference & Awards are dedicated to the live music industry, inviting promoters, producers, agents, managers, venues, sponsors and other touring-related businesses to discuss and celebrate the industry’s opportunities and challenges.
