Executive Turntable: New Hires & Promotions at BMG, Sony/ATV, FUGA & Peermusic

Albert Slendebroek will join BMG Talpa Music to run its Benelux repertoire operation, Sony/ATV has announced the promotion of Jacob Fain to svp of A&R and head of research and analytics, and more.

Announced on Monday (March 12), Albert Slendebroek will join BMG Talpa Music to run its Benelux repertoire operation. In his new role, he will partake in developing the company’s roster of writers and producers, as well as its domestic recordings business, and drive Benelux representation of BMG’s international publishing and recording roster.

Slendebroek’s previous roles in the music industry include CEO of FUGA and general manager of Armada Music.

“In the four years since BMG acquired Talpa Music, we have made significant progress,” said Tony Berk. “I am personally delighted to welcome Albert to help us in the next phase of our expansion.”

Sony/ATV has announced today the promotion of Jacob Fain to svp of A&R and head of research and analytics. Fain will be based in the New York office and continue to report to Danny Strick, co-president, U.S.

After joining Sony/ATV as manager of A&R in January 2008, Fain was promoted to vp, A&R. Among his most successful signings are The Chainsmokers, whose debut album Memories…Do Not Open premiered on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1, Leon Bridges and Of Monsters And Men

Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said, “Jake’s ability to recognize artists and songs that we should pursue has grown considerably as a result of both his A&R talent, and the utilization of data and research. This is a well-earned promotion.”

Fain was also responsible for developing the research and analytics department, which has allowed the company to find songwriters and artists quicker and to assess deals more accurately though a modernized process of music discovery and evaluation.

Björn Sandberg has become UK promotions manager to FUGA’s growing team in London after the company opened premises there.

Also joining FUGA in the New York office are A&R Gavin Pomerantz as promotions manager, and Daniel Komanoff as technical account manager. Meanwhile, Lorenzo Grignani and Massimo Reali — who’s joining FUGA from Sounday — will lead the Milan, Italy, office after its recent opening.

“2018 is already proving a strong year for FUGA. I am pleased to welcome such a spread of experienced new team members and particularly proud to announce the opening of our offices in London and Milan,” said Pieter van Rijn, CEO of FUGA. “We are very happy to welcome these established independent record labels and innovative music services to our growing operation.”

Tuff Morgan has been promoted to senior director of A&R at Peermusic. Morgan will continue to work out of the company’s Burbank office as he leads its efforts in the pop and urban genres, which he previously focused on as director of pop and urban music since joining Peermusic in 2014. He will report to the company’s president Kathy Spanberger.

“Tuff is one of the best A&R guys in the business. He began his career as an artist so he’s able to connect with writers on a creative level that’s rare for someone on the business side,” Spanberger said. “The writers as well as his colleagues at Peermusic love working with him, and the executive team and I congratulate him on his well-deserved promotion.”
