On Monday (Nov. 6), Vevo launches its list of 2018 Artists To Watch on the dscvr video series, and it’s kicking off with young, L.A. breakout Billie Eilish.
The dscvr Artists To Watch list is a globe-spanning collection of 20 artists poised to breakout over the next year, selected by the Vevo staff from a larger pool of over 500 artists. Dscvr alums include Sam Smith, Alessia Cara, Jorja Smith, and Maggie Rogers.
For the 2018 list, ten U.S. artists will be announced daily between Nov. 6 through Nov. 17 as a video package with a performance and exclusive interviews produced in-house by Vevo are released. The project is a “huge undertaking” according to Head of Content and Programming, Tom Connaughton, who calls the list “a genuine investment in the artist.”
Connaughton promises “compelling live videos that helps prove and show the artist’s talent all the way through to really interesting short films that tell the artist’s story in a unique way.”
The series begins with Eilish, a singer-songwriter who is already emerging as one of Los Angeles’ top young talents following the Aug. release of her debut EP don’t smile at me via Darkroom/Interscope. In the first dscvr Artists To Watch video, Eilish performs “My boy” off the EP. Watch the performance below.
The series will continue tomorrow (Nov. 7) with Atlanta rapper and Dreamville signee J.I.D.
Check out the accompanying video with Eilish and her brother and co-producer Finneas O’Connell below.
