Billie Eilish has teamed with Fender on a signature ukulele that has a built-in preamp and a body splashed with the singer’s signature “blohsh” logo. The slick concert-size four-stringer retails for $299.99 and is stage-ready according to a release from the instrument manufacturer.
“As soon as she burst onto the scene with her 2015 single ‘Ocean Eyes,’ it was clear that Billie Eilish is a force to be reckoned with,” reads a statement announcing the collaboration. “In the years since, she has established herself as a new kind of pop culture icon, taking the fashion and music industries by storm on her own terms. Billie’s meteoric ascent to pop stardom started with the ukulele, the first instrument she learned to play. Designed in collaboration with Billie Eilish, her Signature Ukulele is a stage-ready instrument that embodies Billie’s bold, unmistakable style.”
The instrument — Eilish’s main songwriting tool — is built with sapele wood (similar to mahogany) on the top, back and sides, with a matte black finish overlaid with the “blohsh” symbol. It also has a Fishman Kula preamp if you feel like plugging in.
Fender is also offering three free months of online guitar, bass or ukulele lessons with a through their Fender Play program. Eilish and her brother singer Finneas recently re-created the NPR offices for their unique spin on the Tiny Desk (At Home) concert, during which they performed her latest single, “My Future,” as well as “Everything I Wanted.”
