In response to the terrorist attacks in Paris on Nov. 13 that targeted multiple sites around the city, including the Bataclan theater where 89 people were killed, the Billboard Touring Conference has added a roundtable discussion addressing security at music venues. The panel will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 during the conference’s Trax sessions, which are smaller discussions addressing topics in the touring industry.
Leading the discussion will be two of the world’s foremost experts in live entertainment security: Mike Rodriguez, co-chair of the Department of Homeland Security’s Sports Leagues Sub-Sector Council, and Russ Simons, chair of the DHS’ Public Assembly Facility Sub-Sector Council.
Also taking part are the CEOs of the two leading live entertainment insurance firms, Peter Tempkins (Bonnaroo, Warped Tour) and Paul Bassman of Ascend Insurance Brokerage (Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza). The panel is rounded out by Timothy Epstein, partner and chair of the Entertainment, Events and Festivals Practice Group at Duggan Bertsch, LLC.
