Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Krewella & Yellow Claw, CamelPhat & Elderbrook and Avicii

Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs and albums rising on Billboard's dance charts. This week: Krewella and Yellow Claw, CamelPhat and Elderbrook, plus Avicii.

Krewella & Yellow Claw feat. Taylor Bennett, “New World”

Chicago-based Krewella (sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf), teaming with Yellow Claw (the Dutch DJ duo of Jim Aasgier and Nils), debut on Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Oct. 14) at No. 29 with “New World.” Featuring Taylor Bennett, who is Chance the Rapper‘s younger  brother, “New” notched 328,000 U.S. streams and sold 4,000 downloads in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music. The track is the 11th chart hit for Krewella, 10th for Yellow Claw and first for Bennett, respectively. Krewella continues on its New World Tour through Nov. 11 in Detroit.

CamelPhat & Elderbrook, “Cola”

U.K. DJ duo CamelPhat (Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala), pairing with London-based Elderbrook (Alexander Kotz), cruises 13-6 on Dance Club Songs with “Cola.” It’s the first chart appearance for CamelPhat, the first for Elderbrook as a lead, and the first top 10 on any Billboard chart for both acts. Late last year, Elderbook, featured on Gorgon City‘s “Smile,” reached No. 35 on the survey. Concurrently, “Cola” pops with 43,000 domestic streams and enters Hot Dance/Electronic Songs at No. 41. The song was remixed by Franky Rizardo and others.

Avicii feat. Sandro Cavazza, “Without You”

Avicii continues to climb Dance/Mix Show Airplay with “Without You” (17-16), featuring a fellow Swede, singer Sandro Cavazza. While it’s the 17th chart entry for the superstar DJ, “Without” is Cavazza’s first U.S. hit. (As featured on Lost Frequencies’ “Beautiful Life,” Cavazza enjoyed two weeks at No. 1 in August 2016 on the Belgium Digital Song Sales chart.) “Without You,” from Avicii’s recent AVICI (01) EP, takes nearly all of its airplay from three core-dance outlets: Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel, SiriusXM’s BPM and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle.
