Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: KANDY, Caribou, MK & Sonny Fodera

Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.

KANDY, “Let Me Down”

Long Island-native producer KANDY (aka Kevin Schuppel) culls his second appearance on Billboard‘s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, as “Let Me Down” launches at No. 38 (on the chart dated Dec. 21). The track follows “Keeping Secrets” (featuring Madison Rose), which hit No. 29 in July. “Down” draws airplay on core-dance affiliates including KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco, SiriusXM’s BPM and WCPY Chicago, according to Nielsen Music.

“Letting your guard down to the things you fear the most in a relationship is something most people, including myself, struggle with,” KANDY tells Billboard. “‘Let Me Down’ is about just that: opening yourself up to the possibility of finding love.”

Caribou, “You and I”

Dundas, Ontario-native producer Caribou (real name Daniel Snaith) commands his first appearance on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, starting at No. 41 with “You and I.” The track is from the act’s set Suddenly (due Feb. 28), its follow-up to 2014’s Our Love, which reached No. 2 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums. “You” earned 345,000 U.S. streams in the tracking week.

MK x Sonny Fodera feat. Raphaella, “One Night”

Detroit-raised DJ/producer MK (full name Marc Kinchen), teaming with London-based producer Sonny Fodera, forays onto Dance/Mix Show Airplay at No. 39 with “One Night,” featuring singer Raphaella. It’s the third appearance for MK, who reached No. 3 in March 2018 with “17,” and the first each for Fodera and Raphaella. “Night” is notching airplay on core-dance outlets, including KMVQ-HD2, Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel and SiriusXM’s BPM.
