Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Cash Cash x ROZES, Dash Berlin & Kelly Lee Owens

Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.

Cash Cash x ROZES, “Matches”

“Matches,” by New Jersey-based DJ trio Cash Cash (brothers JP and Alex Makhlouf and Sam Frisch) and singer ROZES (best known for her featured turn on “Roses” by The Chainsmokers), marches onto Dance/Mix Show Airplay at No. 38. The track draws the majority of its airplay from core-dance outlets, including Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel, WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida (an iHeartRadio “Evolution” affiliate), and SiriusXM’s BPM. “Matches” also sparked 587,000 U.S. streams in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music.

Dash Berlin, We Are, Part 2

Dutch headliner DJ act Dash Berlin barges onto Dance/Electronic Album Sales at No. 9 with We Are, Part 2. It’s the second album to chart for the Jeffrey Sutorius-fronted group, following (appropriately), We Are: Part 1 (No. 6, September 2014). The new set contains a trance-tinged cover of Roxette‘s 1989 No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 smash, “Listen to Your Heart,” featuring Christina Novelli. Originally a rock-leaning power ballad, “Listen” was first pumped into a hi-NRG dance tune by D.H.T. more than a decade ago, reaching No. 8 on the Hot 100 in August 2005 (also aided by a ballad mix). Dash continues to tour globally, with dates in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia lined up through September.

Kelly Lee Owns, Kelly Lee Owens

London-based producer Kelly Lee Owens sends her self-produced, eponymous debut album onto Dance/Electronic Album Sales at No. 12. It’s the first Billboard chart action for Owens, who begins a European tour on April 20 in Paris. The set also sports featured vocalist Jenny Hval on the track “Anxi.”
