Azure, "Too Late (Dirty Werk Remix)"
Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard's dance charts.
Azure, “Too Late”
Australian singer/actress Azure (real name: Ashley Waterman) zooms 32-26 on Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart (dated Feb. 3) with “Too Late,” her first Billboard chart appearance. The mid-tempo Bryan Todd-produced original was remixed by Dirty Werk, Dave Aude and Mauro Mozart, among others.
Azure, who trained at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, tells Billboard, “‘Too Late,’ for me, is an anthem of sass and savagery. It’s a power stance that’s ruthless and to the point and says exactly what it means. When Vanessa Campagna, Bryan Todd and I were writing, it flowed so quickly. We wrote the whole song and put the vocals down in under two hours. The track lent itself to something cold, but catchy.
“I think there’s a time in everybody’s life where they wished they’d said what they wanted to say. ‘Too Late’ does that for them.”
Lane 8, Little by Little
Lane 8, the moniker for Denver-based electronic producer Daniel Goldstein, debuts at No. 23 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums with Little by Little. The set earned 1,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 25, according to Nielsen Music. With about half its units from traditional album sales, Little launches at No. 4 on Dance/Electronic Album Sales. The act’s first Billboard chart appearance, the set also opens at No. 19 on Heatseekers Albums. Lane 8’s current Little by Little Album Tour lasts through May, traversing North America, Australia and Europe.
Tiesto, Gucci Mane & Sevenn, “Boom”
Superstar DJ Tiesto, joined by rapper Gucci Mane and producers Sevenn (Los Angeles-based brothers Sean and Kevin Brauer), debuts at No. 47 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Boom.” Originally released last spring without Mane, “Boom” earned 381,000 U.S. streams in the tracking week. The collab marks Tiesto’s 17th entry on the chart, Mane’s second and Sevenn’s first. The track concurrently debuts at No. 40 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, drawing the majority of its airplay from Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel and WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida (an iHeartRadio Evolution affiliate).
