Leading DJ digital music store Beatport has joined forces with the like-minded Loopmasters, an English record label and online retailer for sound packs and plugins.
As part of the pact, Beatport has sold its Beatport Sounds business — a library of beats, loops and samples — to Loopmasters, in which Beatport has also made a strategic investment.
“Our partnership with, and investment in, Loopmasters illustrates Beatport’s commitment to delivering the best products to our loyal customers and the global DJ/producer community,” shared Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels. “Loopmasters’ long history of delivering a world-class product and customer experience is going to be a valuable asset for Beatport’s more than 36 million annual visitors for many years to come.”
Over the next year, Beatport will integrate Loopmasters’ product suite into its website, allowing Beatport’s DJ customers to browse and purchase music production tools — starting with Loopmasters’ cloud-based sample subscription service, Loopcloud. The partnership will soon include an “enhanced product offering” for Loopmasters’ sister company Plugin Boutique, where music software companies sell their VST plugins, virtual instruments, synth presets and music plugins.
“We are thrilled to integrate the Loopmasters product suite into the Beatport site, enhance our sound library with their licensed sounds catalogue and gain access to the amazing artist and label relationships they have cultivated over the last 15 years,” added Loopmasters founder and CEO Matt Pelling. “The combination of these two great companies will surely create an unparalleled product offering for emerging and established producers around the world.”
The news follows Beatport’s announcement back in February that it would combine resources with subscription-based digital DJ record pool DJcity, launching Beatsource, a new digital music retail experience for open-format DJs.
