Avicii accelerates into the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10 with “The Days” (23-8). It’s Avicii’s fourth top 10, tying him with David Guetta for the second-most since the chart’s Jan. 26, 2013, inception. (Calvin Harris and Zedd lead with five each.)
Up by 475 percent to 31,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, “Days” leaps 18-5 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (with last week’s debut predicated on only a partial week of sales). Additionally, “Days,” which features uncredited vocals from Robbie Williams, debuts at No. 10 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (1.3 million U.S. streams, 79 percent from Spotify, according to Nielsen BDS). David Guetta, meanwhile, darts to within one notch of his fifth Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10, “Dangerous” (18-11). The track, from Guetta’s album Listen (due Nov. 24), debuts at No. 9 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (19,000). It’s Guetta’s record-extending 17th top 10 on that list.
Flying Lotus (real name: Steven Ellison) launches at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Albums with You’re Dead! The set, his first chart-topper in four tries, moved 17,000 units, marking his best career sales week. Released on indie label Warp, Dead! opens at No. 3 on Independent Albums and No. 19 on the Billboard 200, both career bests. The act’s electronic-rap track “Never Catch Me,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, entered at No. 19 on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart dated Sept. 20.
Duke Dumont crowns Dance Club Songs with “Won’t Look Back” (2-1). It’s the DJ’s third No. 1 (and features uncredited vocals from Yolanda Quartey), following “Need U (100%),” featuring A*M*E, and “I Got U,” featuring Jax Jones. Producer Jones remixed “Won’t,” as did Star Slinger and others.
Kiesza connects on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with a fourth track, “The Love,” (No. 49), from her debut album, Sound of a Woman., due Tuesday (Oct. 21). Her breakout smash, “Hideaway,” spends its 14th consecutive week in the top 10 (at No. 10), following its six-week stint peaking at No. 7.
