With their second-ever release, new boy bad ATEEZ makes a big impact on several Billboard charts to solidify them as a K-pop newcomer to definitely watch.
The eight-member act’s new Treasure EP.2: Zero to One album sold 1,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 17, according to Nielsen Music. This is the group’s best sales week in America to date. The effort lands ATEEZ at No. 5 on World Albums this week (their highest position on the chart so far) as well as No. 7 on Heatseekers Albums (a chart that sees far fewer K-pop acts earning entries). ATEEZ also land the highest new entry on World Albums this week, coming out on top with a competitive week in the K-pop scene with multiple other acts also releasing.
Notably, ATEEZ also saw their debut EP Treasure return to World Albums this week, re-entering the chart at No. 14. The set initially debuted at No. 13 on the chart dated Nov. 3, 2018, before rising to its peak of No. 12. To date, the Treasure EP has sold 1,000 copies since its release, according to Nielsen Music. The return of a past release to the charts indicates that new fans are not only looking into the band’s past material, but actively supporting it too.
With their blend of aggressive-leaning hip-hop and ready-to-go-viral dance moves (the band has encouraged fans to join in the #Driving_Dance_Challenge on Instagram), the Treasure EP.2: Zero To One puts ATEEZ in prime position to be one of K-pop’s next international acts to gain major attention. Made up of members Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho, the octet that was nicknamed the “KQ Fellaz” have had their sights on a global audience since they were created and trained via a YouTube series and seemed poised to make a great impact on the scene.
