Hey Gary,

I was amazed at all the other people who make “home” music charts.

I’ve been doing just that off-and-on since I was growing up in the ’70s when I first discovered Billboard magazine and Casey Kasem’s “American Top 40” weekly countdown.

About three years ago I changed the methodology for how I create my chart, as I began ranking titles by the number of times I listen to a song via iTunes counters and other apps that keep count. Such a switch seemed a more accurate gauge of how I feel about songs.

As a result, I’ve noticed more high debuts on my chart. I tend to like dance/pop songs the most and especially some of the remixes that are made for the dance floor. (I didn’t like the original version of Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Into You” with Lil’ Wayne, but I love the Dave Aude no-rap dance edit remix, which topped my chart for two weeks).

My current No. 1 is the Funk3d Club Remix of Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory.” I post my chart on my Facebook page every Tuesday evening.

Here is the current top 10 of my 25-position chart, based on total plays per my iPod/iPhone/iTunes usage for the week ending June 4.

This Week-Last Week, Title
1-9, “The Edge of Glory (Funk3d Club Remix),” Lady Gaga
2-1, “I’m Into You (Dave Aude Radio Edit),” Jennifer Lopez
3-2, “Judas (Dark Intensity Remix),” Lady Gaga
4-4, “We Own the Night (Wideboys Radio Edit),” Andrea Rosario
5-7, “Hair (Main Version),” Lady Gaga
6 New, “Bright Lights Bigger City (Shapeshifters Disco Remix),” Cee Lo Green
7-10, “Unfriend You (Main Version),” Greyson Chance
8-3, “Fade (Subgroover Extended Club Mix),” Kristine W
9-13, “Last Friday Night (Almighty Club Mix),” Katy Perry
10-11, “I Wanna Go (Armand Deluxe Radio Edit),” Britney Spears

Have a great weekend!
