ASCAP Experience 2020 Unveils First Wave of Speakers

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers today unveils the first wave of speakers for the 2020 ASCAP Experience.

As it evolves with a new look and new name for its 15th annual event, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers today (Feb. 6) unveils the first wave of speakers for the 2020 ASCAP Experience.

Leading the first lineup of panellists is ASCAP chairman of the board and president Paul Williams, while Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Desmond Child (“Livin’ on a Prayer,” Bon Jovi; “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” Aerosmith) is on board to host an “intimate, submission-based masterclass”.

In the “Horror Scorers” session, composers including Marco Beltrami (A Quiet Place; Scream) and Joe Bishara (The Conjuring; Insidious) will share their scary music-making secrets, while Dan Wilson (“Closing Time,” Semisonic; “Someone Like You,” Adele) will lead a dream team to turn his popular “Words & Music in Six Seconds” Instagram series into something tangible.

Speakers include Jason Mraz, Brett James, Priscilla Renea, Poo Bear, Amy Allen and many more.

Formerly ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, the upcoming summit will take place April 1-3 in Los Angeles.

“I am so excited to introduce our 15th annual music creators conference as we debut our very first ASCAP Experience,” said Williams in a statement. “It is my favorite time of the year and I personally can’t wait to be there with our attendees, who can look forward to an unforgettable three days of information and inspiration from some of the best in the industry.”

As previously reported, the expo will be relocating to the Intercontinental in downtown L.A., a larger space that better allows for multiple sessions on the same topic (to give attendees more chances to attend the events that are important to them) while also being more conducive to the kinds of personal, small-scale experiences that have become a popular feature of more recent confabs.
