Migos Soar to No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100
The trio is the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time. Plus, Brantley Gilbert rockets to No. 3.

Hip-hop trio Migos is the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, bounding from No. 11 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Feb. 18) as the group’s new album Culture launches atop the Billboard 200.
The Artist 100 (which launched in July 2014) measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Culture starts with 131,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Feb. 2, according to Nielsen Music. Streaming (40 percent) narrowly edges out traditional album sales (39 percent) for the act’s greatest share of Artist 100 points, as the set’s lead single “Bad and Boujee” (featuring Lil Uzi Vert) tops the Streaming Songs chart for a sixth week with 50.2 million U.S. streams (up 7 percent). It ranks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 after three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1.
Since the Artist 100 began in July 2014, Migos mark just the second hip-hop group to reign, following A Tribe Called Quest (Dec. 3, 2016).
Ed Sheeran keeps at No. 2 on the Artist 100, and Brantley Gilbert blasts 79-3, as his new album The Devil Don’t Sleep debuts at No. 1 on Top Country Albums. Album sales account for 85 percent of Gilbert’s Artist 100 points, while the set’s lead single becomes his fifth top 10 on the Hot Country Songs chart (14-9).
The Weeknd dips to No. 4 on the Artist 100 after 14 (nonconsecutive) weeks at No. 1 and Drake descends 3-5 (after leading for 23 nonconsecutive frames).
