Arcangel and Sech’s “Sigues Con Él” rises 5-1 on the Latin Airplay chart (dated May 23). The song reaches the top in its 14th week — one of four tracks in 2020 to climb to No. 1 in exactly 14 weeks. Only one song has taken longer to reach No. 1 this year, J Balvin’s “Blanco,” which took 16 weeks (topping the list dated March 21).
“Sigues Con Él” is Arcangel and Sech’s first collaboration. It dethrones Karol G & Nicki Minaj’s “Tusa” from its five-week reign.
“It was a gratifying experience working with Sech,” Arcangel tells Billboard. “I had listened to his music and when we first met in the studio, we couldn’t record, but we had such a great time, such good chemistry! It was an instant connection where we were able to exchange ideas, see what each other liked. He is an outstanding human being, humble and talented.”
“Sigues” ascends with 12.4 million in audience impressions, up 28 percent, earned in the week ending May 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
“Being No. 1 on Latin Airplay means seeing the fruits of my work for the first time in an organized way and in the hands of people who also love my project as I do,” Arcangel continues. “I am very happy, grateful for this No. 1 and highly motivated to continue working.”
“Sigues” marks Arcangel’s third No. 1 and first in more than a year. He last claimed a No. 1 through his collaboration on Daddy Yankee and RKM-Ys “Zum Zum.” Sech, meanwhile, clocks his second leader. His first No. 1 arrived in August 2019 as “Otro Trago,” featuring Darell, hit No. 1 following the remixed version of the song with Nicky Jam, Ozuna and Anuel AA.
Beyond its Latin Airplay coronation, “Sigues” also pushes up the Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data. It jumps 5-3 and takes the Greatest Gainer honors.
Elsewhere, “Sigues” hits No. 1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart.
