Sources suggest that the band’s Everything Now might earn around 95,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 3. The album — which was released July 28 through Columbia Records — should easily top the tally dated Aug. 19 and will likely be the only album to debut inside the top 10.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new Aug. 19-dated Billboard 200 chart is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Aug. 6.
Arcade Fire previously led the Billboard 200 with its last two efforts: Reflektor (in 2013) and The Suburbs (in 2010).
If Arcade Fire starts at No. 1, it will mark just the second rock album to lead the Billboard 200 in 2017. Earlier in the year, Linkin Park topped the tally with One More Light.
Following Arcade Fire on next week’s chart will likely be Kendrick Lamar’s former No. 1 DAMN., which might rise from No. 5 to No. 2. Meek Mill’s Wins and Losses, which arrived at No. 3 on the Aug. 12-dated list, could hold at No. 3 for its second chart week (with over 30,000 units). Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life and Tyler, the Creator’s Flower Boy (which started at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, on the Aug. 12 chart) could fall out of the top 10 in their second week. Both could earn a little over 20,000 units for the week (down from their respective starts of 107,000 and 106,000 units).
