Arista Records has scooped up Ant Saunders, the indie singer-songwriter behind the glitchy, charming love ode “Yellow Hearts.”
The announcement comes as “Yellow Hearts,” which initially gained traction on TikTok, debuts at No. 81 on the Hot 100, marking Saunders’ first entry.
“We are so proud to be working with Ant,” says Arista president/CEO David Massey. “He is a unique and talented artist who has a powerful repertoire that is entirely self-created. Ant is already captivating the world with his first single and we are excited to be on this journey ahead with him.”
“Yellow Hearts,” Saunders’ third single, was released in June. After taking off on TikTok — where the song has soundtracked more than 839,000 videos — its rise was aided by placement on popular Spotify playlists like Today’s Top Hits and Pop Rising. Saunders made his Emerging Artists chart debut last week at No. 18.
Adds Saunders: “I really felt comfortable with the Arista team and felt that they believed in me and my ideas the most. I trust that they’ll help me get to where I want to be in life and my career. For now, I’m currently working on a few more singles and a full-length project, that I’m excited to release with them.”
Arista, which was founded by Clive Davis in 1974, was relaunched in June 2018 with Massey — the former president and CEO of Island Records — at the helm. Saunders joins a roster that includes recruits Louis Tomlinson, Greyson Chance, Stephen Puth, Upsahl, and JP Saxe, who recently teamed with Julia Michaels for the Finneas-produced “If The World Was Ending.”
