Rock band Alabama Shakes is on course for its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. Industry forecasters suggest the group’s new set, Sound & Color, may move over 90,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 26.
Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard: ‘I Couldn’t Care Less If Our Music Is on Spotify’
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200’s top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, April 29.

Sound & Color is the group’s second full-length album, and follows 2012’s Boys & Girls, which has sold 739,000 and peaked at No. 6. Its single “Hold On” reached No. 1 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart, and garnered a Grammy Award nomination for best rock performance.
If Sound & Color hits No. 1, it will give its label, ATO Records, its second No. 1. ATO previously led the list in January of 2008 with Radiohead’s In Rainbows (on TBD Records/ATO).
Other albums heading for high debuts next week include Yelawolf’s Love Story (which might move around 45,000 or so units) and Maná’s Cama Incendiada (30,000).
