Agust D Becomes Second BTS Member With a Solo Billboard Hot 100 Hit

As BTS continues to be a force on Billboard‘s charts, its individual members are beginning to pad their solo chart résumés.

Agust D, who also goes by SUGA, becomes the second member of BTS to score a solo hit on the Billboard Hot 100, as his single “Daechwita” opens at No. 76 on the chart dated June 6.

“Daechwita” debuts with 4 million U.S. streams and 17,000 sold in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Agust D joins fellow BTS member J-Hope, who became the first member of the group to notch a solo Hot 100 entry, when “Chicken Noodle Soup,” featuring Becky G, spent a week on the survey, at No. 81, in October 2019.

“Daechwita” concurrently debuts at No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, earning Agust D his second No. 1, after IU’s “Eight,” on which he’s featured, three weeks ago.

“Daechwita” appears on Agust D’s second mixtape D-2, which starts at No. 1 on World Albums, where it’s his first leader, and No. 11 on the Billboard 200 with 33,000 equivalent album units. The sum is the second-largest opening week for a K-pop album this year, after BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7, which launched with 422,000 units in March.

All 10 tracks from D-2 occupy the top 10 of the World Digital Song Sales chart. Agust D is the first soloist to sweep the top 10 in a week, and joins only BTS, which has infused the entire top 10 on four occasions, beginning in June 2018.

Here’s a rundown of Agust D’s top 10 domination on World Digital Song Sales, including one track with BTS’s RM:

Rank, Title
No. 1, “Daechwita”
No. 2, “Strange” feat. RM
No. 3, “Burn It” feat. MAX
No. 4, “What Do You Think?”
No. 5, “Moonlight”
No. 6, “People”
No. 7, “28” feat. NiiHWA
No. 8, “Dear My Friend” feat. Kim Jong Wan
No. 9, “Interlude : Set Me Free”
No. 10, “Honsool”

BTS also appears on World Digital Song Sales at No. 14 (“Filter”), No. 21 (“On”), No. 23 (“Lie”) and No. 24 (“My Time”).

As a group, BTS has tallied 11 entries on the Hot 100, including three top 10s: “Fake Love” (No. 10), “Boy With Luv,” featuring Halsey (No. 8), and “On” (No. 4). BTS remains the only K-pop group with a top 10 and boasts the most Hot 100 entries among all K-pop acts.

It may not be long before another member of BTS joins Agust D and J-Hope with solo hits on the Hot 100, as Jungkook released his first solo song on Thursday (June 4), “Still With You.”
