Adele’s ‘Hello’ Is Now a No. 1 Dance Hit, Too

Her ballad knows no bounds, topping another tally in remixed form.

At this point it may be easier to note the charts on which Adele‘s “Hello” is not No. 1.

The smash ascends to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated Dec. 12), rising 3-1 and marking the superstar’s first trip to the top of any Billboard dance chart. A ballad in its original world-dominating form, “Hello,” atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth week, is drawing dance radio and club play via a plethora of remixes, including from Dash Berlin, Paul Damixie, Pink Panda, W&W, Mike D and more. “Hello” also vaults 14-6 on Dance Club Songs, where it becomes Adele’s highest-charting hit, besting “Skyfall,” which reached No. 10 in 2013.

“Hello” hits the Dance/Mix Show Airplay apex in just its fourth week, completing the fastest coronation since David Guetta’s “Without You” (featuring Usher; four weeks, 2011).

So, add yet another ranking to the chart-topping resume of “Hello.” In addition to the Hot 100, it has crowned Digital Songs, Pop Digital Songs, Streaming Songs, On-Demand Songs, Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks and, among airplay charts (along with Dance/Mix Show Airplay), the all-format Radio Songs chart, Adult Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs.

As previously reported, parent album 25 launched atop the Billboard 200 with a record 3.48 million equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 26. Of that figure, 3.38 million were pure album sales, marking the largest sales week for an album since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. The set is now headed for more history, being poised to sell more than 1 million in its second frame. That would make it the first album in the Nielsen era to sell at least 1 million in two separate weeks.
