Above & Beyond Launch New Label Focused on Ambient & Downtempo Music

The new label, Reflections, kicks off with a pair of tracks from A&B themselves.

Electronic music trio Above & Beyond are expanding their roster of labels with the addition of an imprint called Reflections, it was announced Monday (May 16). The new label will be a home for ambient, downtempo and alternative releases.

Reflections launches with a pair of releases from A&B themselves. “Time Heals” is an emotional, atmospheric ambient soul-stirrer built largely from somber piano chords. Shimmering with warmth, “Morning In Deira” is built for sunrise and was also the opening track during Above & Beyond’s January Cercle performance at Colombia’s Rock of Guatapé at La Piedra del Peñol Guatapé. Listen to both tracks below.

Reflections joins Above & Beyond’s previously existing labels Anjuna and Anjunadeep, which are operated out of London. Anjuna was founded 22 years ago when A&B members Paavo Siljamäki and Jono Grant were students at the University of Westminster, where they first connected over their shared love of trance music. Meanwhile, Anjunadeep (founded by A&B member Jono Grant’s brother James Grant) focuses on deep house.

“Our two record labels, Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep were born on the dancefloor,” the trio said in a joint statement. “For over 20 years these labels have taken us, our music, and our artists, to dancefloors across the world…Reflections is born from all those moments in between the dancefloors — the mornings after, the nights apart, the journeys shared along the way. Those moments of Reflection.”

In conjunction with A&B and Anjuna’s longstanding focus on wellness and mental health, Reflections will also be releasing output created for sleeping, relaxing, and focusing. “We’re also launching a host of curated mood-based mixes,” Reflections label manager Penny Longstaff said in a statement. “That just opens up so many new avenues of who we can reach with the music.”
