30Roc (real name Samuel Gloade) hits No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 Producers chart (dated Jan. 18) for the first time, thanks to Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” which he solely produced and co-wrote.
“The Box” tops the Billboard Hot 100, rising from No. 3 to become Ricch’s first No. 1 as an artist and 30Roc’s first leader as a producer. The song tallies a second week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs survey, surging by 60% to 68.2 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 9, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Thanks to his co-songwriting credit, 30Roc also debuts on the Hot 100 Songwriters chart at No. 3.
“The Box” is 30Roc’s third Hot 100 top 10 as a producer, after he reached the region via T-Wayne’s “Nasty Freestyle” (No. 9, 2015) and Travis Scott’s “Stargazing” (No. 8, 2018). As with “The Box,” he’s credited as a co-songwriter on both hits.
30Roc dethrones Billie Eilish collaborator Finneas, who led Hot 100 Producers for seven nonconsecutive weeks.
The weekly Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on the Hot 100; plus, genre-based songwriter and producer charts follow the same methodology based on corresponding “Hot”-named genre charts. As with Billboard‘s yearly recaps, multiple writers or producers split points for each song equally (and the dividing of points will lead to occasional ties on rankings).
