The summer is finally over, and while that doesn’t mean you can’t keep dancing, it does signal the end of another Ibiza season. Billboard teamed with Shazam this year to compile a weekly list of the most Shazamed dance tunes each week, running from May 1 to Oct 6, and some definite trends arose.
We took a closer look at the data to see which 10 songs were the most popular with Shazam users on the Ibiza dance floor, and it turns out Italian producer Roberto Surace took the top spot. His song “Joys” gained momentum in late June and held the No. 1 spot on our chart for 11 weeks. “Joys” also entered Shazam’s charts in several countries, peaking at No. 9 on the Shazam UK chart in October, No. 19 in Belgium in July, and No. 21 in The Netherlands in September. It’s currently the No. 1 track on Apple Music’s UK dance editorial playlist House Nation.
“I am very excited by the support ‘Joys’ has received from the public and international DJs, and Shazam played a key role in bringing the track to the fans,” Surace tells Shazam and Billboard. “This summer in Ibiza was a fantastic season, I received a lot of support from the island, and I’m happy because I’ve been visiting Ibiza for years and it’s an island that gave me so much in my musical career.”
Shazam was used the most the weekend of August 10 and 11. Meduza’s “Piece of Your Heart” was the second-most tagged song of the season, while Fisher’s “Losing It” and “You Little Beauty” held on strong throughout as the third and tenth most Shazamed songs of the summer.
