What movies are on our radar for 2015? Here are the 15 most anticipated music films of the year. (All dates subject to change.)
The Boy Next Door, Jan. 23: Okay okay, it’s not exactly a music movie. But it does star Jennifer Lopez. Lopez plays Claire Peterson, a lonely divorcee who begins an affair with … the boy who lives next door, embodied by the handsome Ryan Guzman. Unfortunately, their relationship takes a dangerous turn, threatening Claire’s livelihood and family. Sure it sounds cheesy, but this romp looks like delicious fun.

Image Credit: Courtesy of Radius-TWC The Last Five Years, Feb. 13: It’s well-established by now that Anna Kendrick has no problem crushing a movie musical (See: Pitch Perfect, Into the Woods), which is why her latest, an adaptation of the beloved Jason Robert Brown cult musical that traces the entire run of a relationship from both individual’s perspectives, has got theater fans so excited. The fact that Broadway star Jeremy Jordan (Smash) co-stars/co-tackles the beloved score is only a bonus.

Can lightning strike twice? Fans sure hope so – and likely can’t wait to sing along to all the a cappella once again.

Magic Mike XXL, July 1: There’s just one question to ask when contemplating this summer’s Magic Mike sequel: What songs are Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, etc. going to take their clothes off to? Okay – it’s not the first question, but after the original film gave fans routines to such classics as “Pony” and “It’s Raining Men,” we can’t wait to see what the gang has up their sleeve – or rather, in their man thongs – this time around.

Lorde’s curation of the Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack — as well as her own memorable tune — took the music of the franchise to new emotional heights, and we can’t wait to see what and who Part 2 has in store.
