Summer is officially upon us, and nothing gets us in the mood for late night drives, vacations and times spent with our toes in the sand like the proper playlist — and the perfect summery music video.
Even artists set the mood for their own summer songs, filming their accompanying music videos at the beach. In May 2020, Harry Styles got us out of a quarantine slump with his colorful, seaside “Watermelon Sugar” clip, which had us craving a sugary sweet summer with its 1970s warm tones, all the smiling faces and so much watermelon. Nine years before that, Styles launched his career alongside One Direction by stealing our collective hearts while dancing around on the beach for the music video to accompany the group’s breakthrough single, “What Makes You Beautiful.”
Fellow pop star Miley Cyrus paid tribute to her California home and then-rekindled romance with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in 2017 with her breezy, beachy clip for her fittingly titled single, “Malibu.” Destiny’s Child made a castaway situation look sexy for their powerful “Survivor” music video back in 2001, and Beyonce went on to join her husband Jay-Z 12 years later for a sultry nighttime stroll in the sand for the video to accompany her beloved 2013 hit, “Drunk in Love.”
To celebrate the start of summer, and all the beach days ahead, we’ve compiled 28 of our favorite music videos that take place at the beach. From Madonna and Jennifer Lopez to Sisqo and Blink-182, see all of our top beachside music videos below.
