Sometimes finding LGBTQ representation in media can be hard, especially looking for direct expressions of queer love. So this Valentine’s Day, we want to highlight just a few queer celebrity couples who love each other beautifully and openly.

Wanda married her now-wife Alex shortly after publicly coming out in 2008. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2013, Wanda explained what it felt like to introduce her wife to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama: "I thought, ‘Oh my God. The first lady is sitting here talking to my wife. I said ‘my wife’ to the first lady and to the president of the United States. This is crazy!"
Samira Wiley & Lauren Morelli

Wiley and Morelli met while on the set of Orange is the New Black, and quickly fell in love. In an interview with People magazine about life after marriage, Wiley said "I don’t see a real difference externally, but more so just in myself and how I think about us as a unit, rather than me as an individual."

The pair began dating back in 2015, with many questioning the 32-year age gap between the two. But in an interview with Town & Country, Paulson perfectly summed up her thoughts on their relationship: "Our relationship represents a certain amount of hope and risk. Maybe there’s something brave in it. Maybe it encourages others to make brave choices.”

For the last decade, Harris and Burtka have shown by example what true romance looks like. In a heartfelt Instagram post for the couple's 13th anniversary, Harris wrote, "The adventures have never ceased. The love has never waned. The gifts are never ending."

These long-time lovers got together in 2004 and have been inseparable ever since. In a 2005 interview with The Advocate, de Rossi said of the first time she knew she was in love: "That had never happened to me in my life, where I saw somebody and [experienced] all of those things you hear about in songs and read about in poetry. My knees were weak. It was amazing."

RuPaul has never been one to be open about his love life. But after 23 years of dating his boyfriend Georges LeBar, he announced on Hollywood Today Livethat they had married. “He’s a great guy, but he doesn’t care about show business at all," he said, explaining why the two keep their relationship relatively private.

Sir Elton met his now-husband David Furnish back in 1993, and the two have been together since. In an Instagram post commemorating their anniversary in 2016, Furnish wrote "23 years ago when I met this extraordinary man, I never dreamed that one day I would be able to legally marry the man I love. 2 years ago that dream became a reality."

Kenworthy, who recently came into the public eye as the first-ever gay Olympic free skier, told OUT magazine in 2016 about the first time the two ever used the L-word. "He turned to me and said, 'I want to tell you something, but I’m scared,' and I just totally hijacked it and said, 'I love you.' And then he said it back, and he was crying, and I was crying. It was really sweet."
