10 of The Most Stylish Outfits From Panorama Music Festival
10 of the Best Outfits at Panorama That Prove Coachella Has Competition
Since Coachella went from indie-cool fest sung about in Frank Ocean's "Novacane" to a multi-million dollar branded extravaganza, the world (okay, maybe just us) has been asking: What's the next Coachella? Well friends, according to the following 10 outfits shot by Billboard's in-house photographer Jess Xie, we may have just found it. Panorama is a three-day music and arts fest in NYC, and while it's relatively new, the burgeoning event created some serious hype when its blockbuster lineup was announced including some of music's majors (A Tribe Called Quest, Nine Inch Nails, Frank Ocean, Solange, anyone?), but the real news came from the fest itself. Solange dressed in a deep red monochromatic 70's style jumpsuit while crooning "Cranes in the Sky" and "Don't Touch My Hair." Kiiara's emotional tribute to late friend and Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who committed suicide on July 20; and Frank Ocean's statement performance accompanied by a statement tee that went viral.
The crowd also stood up to the emerging hype, nixing the horribly cliche flower crowns of Coachella's past for something grungier, more millennial and more New York; vintage embellished leather jackets paired with stunning natural hair, "short-or-alls" with tube socks and vans and, and '90s style fisherman bucket hats with matching '70s style sunglasses. All in all? We'd say Coachella might have some serious style competition. Scroll down to judge for yourself.
Peaches and Cream Monochrome
Nothing says festival style like a fluttery vest-meets-kimono piece with billowing sleeves and Oriental buttons, and this festival goer accented it perfectly with mom-shoe Adidas and angular '90s style cat eye shades.
Darryl, Maryland
Darryl Umoh, 20, nails it in a vintage-inspired Gucci Mane tour tee and rolled up short overalls. "Nobody in particular. I dress how I feel.. anything that's cool to me and what I feel comfortable in," the Maryland-native art student said when asked about his style icons.
Anzie, Texas
Anzie Dasabe, 18, is a Texas-native, and her fun personality matched with an eclectic yet sophisticated sense of style only enhanced her look, which she says is inspired by Diana Ross and Cher.
Erin, Queens, NY
We're obsessed with everything about Erin's outfit, from her overalls with green accent zippers to her matching yellow bucket hat and square sunnies. The 24-year-old Queens, NY native finds style inspiration in Aaliyah, and this outfit is a perfect example.
Perfectly Pink Festival Goer
We mean, really. You cannot get better than this killer outfit, completely thought out from her head to her toes (literally).
Donovan, Prince George's County, Maryland
Jeremy Scott of Moschino would be very proud of 20-year-old Donovan Banks, no doubt. The Maryland-native says he pulls inspo from his hometown of D.C and "PG" (Prince George's County, Maryland), Young Thug and polos from Kanye's earlier days.
Apple Drysdale, "Above the clouds", Ecuador
Maybe the #1 best NYC festival outfit of all time. 24-year-old Apple Drysdale, who says she hails from "above the clouds, Ecuador" is embellished perfection in this Mia Vesper look with, and we emphasize, MATCHING.FLOWERED.CLOGS. "My inspiration is my mother and sister. For their courage and strength. They drive me to be whoever the fuck I want to be," Drysdale says.
Sam Friedman, NYC/Richmond, VA
We love Sam Friedman's perfectly placed vintage-style rose pins and gold cascading choker from jewerly designer Vidakush. The originally Richmond, Virgina native moved to New York 3 years ago and says his style icons are Gucci and ASAP Rocky, but finds inspo on Instagram particularly from Instagram model @mateoxpalacio and jewelry designer @Vidakush (which he is wearing). "I love style that is risky, eclectic and stands out," Friedman says.
Kirsteen & Mary, Boston, MA
Adorable sisters Kirsteen (right,19) and Mary, 17, came to Panorama in similarly-styled velvet pieces Kirsteen hand-made for them. Both sisters love Stevie Nicks and find inspiration from street style, people watching and Instagram.
Myles Loftin, NYC/Maryland
What more can we say about 19-year-old Myles Loftin? His insanely simple yet striking and unique look is one that stands all on its own. Originally from Maryland, Loftin moved to NYC to study photography at Parsons.
