9 of the Best Outfits From New York City's Governor's Ball Festival
Governor's Ball 2017
Festival style is a popular yet tricky summer trend to master: From preparing for unpredictable weekend weather to perfecting the art of looking just Coachella enough without seeming to have gotten your geography confused, difficulties abound if you want to pull it off right. But here at Billboard Style, we never shy away from a sartorial challenge -- and lucky for you we found some of the city's best dressed for Governor's Ball on New York's Randall's Island this past weekend (June 2-4). Whether they were blogging-sister duo Dylana and Natialie Suarez (of @NatalieOffDuty) or glitter-donning New York natives, scroll through to check out 9 of our coolest picks.
Dylana Suarez & Natalie Lim Suarez
The sisters — both of whom sported super stylish, vintage-inspired umbrellas for the rainy day -- say their style is similar, yet different. For Dylana, she says a mix of "Woodstock-like fashion from the '60s/'70s" with some '90s pieces thrown in is what gives her style inspo. Natalie, on the other hand, says she likes to go for a more all-American look.

Jordan Shelwood, 19, New York City
19-year-old Jordan Shelwood is a New York City native, which is fairly evident from his bold-yet-minimalist, urban-romantic look. "Drag fashion and celebrity fashion are definitely some of my biggest inspirations," Shelwood says, telling Billboard that his love for makeup comes from Queens such as Shea Couleé.

Aly Geppert, 26, Southern California
After spending her adolescent years attending Coachella, thanks to her So-Cal upbringing, Aly Geppert was excited to see what the NYC Gov Ball scene was all about. When asking Geppert about who she takes style cues from, she said her favorite pick is someone most of us are really into right now. "I know it sounds lame, but Kendall Jenner is kind of an icon,” she says. "I look a lot like her and she’s very controversial, which is kind of my thing, so I’m very into it. Girly and badass.”
Hannah Ongley, 29, New Zealand
Checking out acts like Mac DeMarco and Phantogram on the rather dreary Sunday, Hannah Ongley, a New Zealand native, cited Rihanna as her main fashion inspiration. The bucket hat Ongley wore is actually a very similar style to an Opening Ceremony collab the singer worked on back in 2015.

Chris McNeilis, 21, U.K.
Going for a casual-yet-cool kind of look, U.K. native Chris McNellis says sportswear and street wear are a popular style choice where he’s from. "I wear a lot of Adidas," the 21-year-old said.
Skyler Hawkins, 19, NYC
Rocking a pair of leopard print, harem trousers along with a millennial-pink ruffle tank and matching sunnies, Skyler Hawkins says his vibe is very "Club kid/1990s supermodels."

Brianna Isola, 19, Long Island
While she might get ideas from YouTube style stars like Kailee McKenzie, Brianna Isola says there’s a certain rock star who has paved her fashion path over the years. "I’m a huge fan of David Bowie, so I’ve probably gone through every fashion phase he has," the 19-year-old says. Here, that inspo is evident in an oversized rocker tee, fishnet stockings and Bowie-influenced booties.
Jesse Mizell, 22, New York City
NYC native Jesse Mizell came out to support his brother, who DJs for A$AP Ferg, but says he was out to grab some of his own attention this weekend. “The pants are baggy and I don’t usually wear baggy pants, but I was going to make a statement with wearing all camouflage,” Mizell says, telling Billboard that his sunglasses are Cartier. "I could definitely be a marine or some shit,” he adds with a laugh.
