This Wednesday night (Nov. 2) marked the 50th annual Country Music Awards, and a whole lot has changed for CMA red carpet style since 1966. While we couldn't go all the way back, click through to see some of the best style transformations -- from boots to bow ties -- in the last few decades.
Carrie Underwood, 2006; Carrie Underwood 2016
Carrie looked undoubtedly beautiful back in 2006 at her very first CMAs, but nothing compares to the pale pink gown the "Something in the Water" singer wore to last night's CMAs. Besides, Underwood's current, sophisticated lob frames her face much better than the once-popular messy bun for '06.
Taylor Swift, 2006; Taylor Swift, 2016
At Taylor's very first CMAs back in 2006, the then-teenage singer looked a bit angsty-goth in a floor-skimming, mermaid-style black gown with matching elbow-length gloves. But last night we saw the sophisticated (albeit, badass) bombshell we all now know and love.
Tim McGraw, 2001; Tim McGraw 2016
15 years later and it's the same hat, same girl -- just a new suit.
Reba McEntire, 1991; Reba McEntire, 2016
Maybe one of our favorite and most drastic changes, the ever-fabulous Reba McEntire looked oh-so 90's country (and a bit bee-like) back in 1991 when accepting her CMA award. While it looks like the country queen's color palette of choice hasn't changed all that much, we're definitely happier with her current style of red carpet dress.
