Trends come and go, but YSL will stay forever. Paris Fashion Week marked the debut collection for new Yves Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello, leading the renowned Paris fashion house into an unknown era after the controversial and abrupt exit of YSL’s ubiquitous creative director Hedi Slimane. While the Spring/Summer 2017 show was certainly different from Slimane’s four-year-long vision -- for one, Vaccarello chose to show his collection at France’s highly industrial, gothic-leaning former Armed Forces Ministry, which will soon be YSL’s headquarters -- Vaccrello’s collection was similar in that it very obviously invoked YSL’s musician-inspired core.
