Colombian superstar Juanes is currently traversing the U.S. for his "Loco de Amor" tour, which kicked off July 28 in Bakersfield, Calif., and will wrap Dec. 4 in Miami, for a total of 17 dates. Check out these exclusive photos shot by Nicolas Achury of Juanes' adventures on the road, starting with his stop at Tucson's AVA Amphitheater on Aug. 12.
Juanes rocked The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, Calif.l on Aug. 8. As part of his show, he indulges fans with all the classics, but also plays some songs from his latest album, Loco de Amor, such as "La Flor." "The way they respond to all the songs is incredible," Juanes tells Billboard. "Of course they love 'La Camisa Negra' but the songs from the new album or my first album [Fíjate Bien], they also enjoy them, and it proves to me that the audience that is going to my shows is not just listening to what's on the radio, they're part of a loyal fan base. And that's what really matters when you want to have a long career."
Juanes' West Coast date at the Santa ...
Juanes' West Coast date at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Aug. 7 was equally memorable. "For me, music is like a spiritual experience," he tells Billboard. "It comes from my soul, from my heart."
The singer's performance at San Francisco's The Warfield venue on Aug. 6 was a recent addition to the tour. Juanes has said before that he feels a special connection to California, where he spent time crashing on friends' couches as an up-and-coming musician in the '90s.
Juanes has never sounded better, thanks in large part to his band. Here he's seen bonding with his bandmates and 5-year-old son Dante before his July 31 show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles (one of two nights at the venue).
In the last few years, Juanes has experimented with new sounds, while staying true to his message of peace and positivity. His latest single is an ethereal Latin pop-meets-EDM duet with French DJ/producer Cedric Gervais, which they will perform together at New York's Madison Square Garden on Aug. 19 as part of Juanes' show. "When I see people closing their eyes, dancing, feeling the song even though they don't know it really well, it proves to me that it's good, it's right," says Juanes, pictured here at the July 28 kick-off to his tour in Bakersfield, Calif.
