Whether it’s a romantic happily-ever-after or a heartbreaking break-up anthem, artists from Beyonce to Mariah Carey love featuring a wedding in one of their music videos. Check out 10 of our favorite music video weddings from over the years, and be sure to note the many different types of wedding dresses that make their music video debuts.
Beyonce -- showing she can rock both a glamorous fancy gown and gorgeous bridal lingerie -- plays a blushing bride on her wedding day in this video, which finds the singer thankful that an ex-boyfriend blew it so that she can now live happily ever after with the right man.
Okay, so the whole “Maroon 5 surprises real couples during their weddings” may have been a little bit staged. But it doesn’t make the video any less fun. Plus, it’s a great excuse to see Adam Levine rocking a tux. Can’t argue with that.
“I always thought/I’d be a mom” Gwen Stefani heartbreakingly croons in one of No Doubt’s ballads. In the video, a pink-haired Stefani is a runaway bride, running from a life she thought she’d never have (though, in real life, Stefani is now a mom of three). Not exactly upbeat, but a gorgeous video nonetheless.
Showing more vulnerability than she typically has on display, the black-and-white video features Pink in a wedding gown mournfully singing about the end of a relationship as she reminisces about the details of her wedding day and ceremony.
It's not exactly happy, but everyone can relate to Carey’s hit tune about missing an ex-boyfriend. The video finds Carey flashbacking to her wedding day with an unhappy groom. Carey, for her part, naturally looks gorgeous in a big white gown.
Katy Perry is at her goofiest in one of her earliest videos. Opening with a wedding ceremony with a dude who just can’t quite commit provides a catalyst for Perry and friends to wash their hands of him and get on with their dancing selves.
Carrie Underwood plays a soldier’s wife who is informed that her husband died at war. The video goes from the joy of walking down the aisle on her wedding day to walking towards his casket dressed in black. Just try not to tear up.
This gothic wedding isn’t exactly like some of the others on this list. Starring Idol’s then-girlfriend Perri Lister and plenty of black leather, the video was plenty controversial -- and far from forgettable.
Arguably the most famous music video wedding -- not to mention wedding dress -- the tune, written by Axl Rose for then-girlfriend Stephanie Seymour (who also stars in the vid) finds the couple mid-ceremony, intercut with footage of the band performing on stage.
