Nicki Minaj kept her look more demure than usual, but still brought her eclectic energy to the red carpet in a lime green Monique Lhuillier gown and massive blonde wig. The "Starships" singer's '80s look was perfectly complemented with a bolt of hot pink matte lipstick. Later in the show, Minaj switched into a pink wig and then opted for a black 'do as she joined Justin Bieber onstage for "Beauty and the Beat."
Justin Bieber looked more "swaggy" than usual at the AMAs in a black leather tank and drop-crotch pants by Kemal + Karla, a black Dior Homme cardigan, a Loree Rodkin bracelet and spiked red loafers by Unif. Bieber's hottest accessory, however, was his mom, Pattie Mallette, who escorted him down the red carpet. The Biebs later received the night's top award, for Artist of the Year.
Carly Rae Jepsen looked like a modern-day princess in a sparkling, pale pink Gomez Garcia dress, Edie Parker clutch, Brian Atwood shoes and Effy jewelry. The Canadian singer later rocked a more casual, all-white look as she performed her new single, "This Kiss."
Is that Ke$ha or Grace Kelly making her way down the red carpet? The "Die Young" singer continued to shine at the 2012 AMAs, flaunting her ultra-feminine transformation in a pastel lace mini-dress, black suede pumps and pin-up-worthy platinum blonde hair. But it wasn't all glamourous -- Ke$ha kept a trace of her former grunge style with a pair of gold insect-studded earrings.
Gwen Stefani kept her look more casual than usual on the 2012 American Music Awards red carpet. Her dressed-down look consisted of leather trousers and an elaborate, oversized Balmain jacket that revealed her sexy black bra. The "No Doubt" singer finished the look with Neil Lane diamond earrings, walking the carpet alongside her equally well-dressed bandmates.
Carrie Underwood, who debuted her new "Two Black Cadillacs" single at the 2012 AMAs, looked pretty in purple as she stepped out on the red carpet in a beaded, violet and fuchsia floor-length gown by Abed Mahfouz.
Christina Aguilera sashayed down the red carpet in a billowing, purple ombre Pamella Roland gown, which she switched out during her performance for a black, star-covered corset by The Blonds. The "Voice" judge also revealed her new, edgy blonde bob at the show.
