BTS made their U.S. television performance debut at the 2017 AMAs, making history as the first K-pop boy band to perform on a major American awards show. Performing “DNA,” the group displayed their flashy sense of style and flawless choreography on the seductive banger. It obviously made a big impression on the audience: When the cameras cut to crowd reactions, several fans were crying.

After taking a break from the spotlight following her lupus diagnosis, Selena Gomez hit the AMA stage to accept the award for favorite pop/rock female artist, giving a heartfelt speech and addressing her personal struggles. "I think it's safe to say that a lot of you know a lot of my life whether I like it or not, and I had to stop. Because I had everything, and I was absolutely broken," she said, choking back tears. She finished the speech by telling her fans: "If you are broken, you don't have to stay broken."

The 2015 awards were held shortly after the shootings at the Bataclan theater in Paris. As a tribute, Celine Dion — with an introduction from Jared Leto — sang Hymne a L’Amour, honoring the city and the victims beautifully.
