Wilco announced the dates for their annual Solid Sound Music and Arts Festival on Tuesday (Oct. 16). The event will return to the campus of MASS MoCA in North Adams, Mass., from June 28-30. The fest was kicked off in 2010 by the long-running band and the 2019 edition will once again find them headlining and hosting alongside an eclectic, as-yet-unannounced group of indie, rock and jazz groups playing for a crowd of 8,000.
“After almost two years off the road, we’re going to be so excited to be back on stage together,” singer Jeff Tweedy said in a statement about the event, which will also feature sets from the group member’s various side projects. “I can’t wait to have that feeling again,” he added.
In addition to offering access to the many MASS MoCA galleries, the festival will feature a comedy stage, naturalist/outdoor activities and a number of family activities, local food and craft beers and ciders.
Tickets for the three-day fest go on sale on Thursday (Oct. 18) here, with a limited amount of reduced price early bird tix at $149 (regular price $179); campsite reservations can also be made on Thursday by calling the MASS MoCA box office (413.662.2111). Fans can also opt for the “Friends of the Festival” pass ($349), which offers such extras as a festival poster signed by the band, an autographed copy of Tweedy’s upcoming memoir, Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back), a private lounge with pop-up performances and more.

In addition to Tweedy’s upcoming second solo album, WARM, due out on Nov. 30, Wilco has partnered with modern American lifestyle brand Best Made for a signature felling axe called The Gray Ghost ($448). “Our Gray Ghost American Felling Axe is an extremely limited custom piece inspired by the album cover for A Ghost is Born, which was designed by Best Made founder Peter Buchanan-Smith,” reads the description of the axe with a four-pound Dayton steel head. “Only 15 of these will ever be made, each with the same fine craftmanship that characterizes all our fabled axes.”
The axe’s motif was hand-painted in the Best Made workshop and is an homage to the “ghostly egg on a pale grey field” on the Ghost album cover with a hickory handle with a laser-engraved “Wilco” on the back. Best Made is also selling a $1,198 box set which packages vinyl copies of all 10 of Wilco’s studio albums signed by Tweedy in a fir crate inspired by their Audubon toolbox, along with a Wilco pennant and two Wilco bandanas.
