If it seems like Weezer is everywhere lately, you’re not wrong. In fact, if it looked like they were in the HOV lane right next to you in a minivan packed with cameras recently, no worries, they were just filming an episode of Apple Music’s Carpool Karaoke: The Series with their good pal Fred Armisen.
The band revealed the shoot on Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 29) with a photo of a smiling Armisen surrounded by recording gear in a tweet that read, “Today’s driver looks a little familiar… #carpoolkaraoke.” Weezer also shared the snap to Instagram, with a caption referencing Black Album lead single “Can’t Knock the Hustle.”
The group recently surprise-dropped their all-covers Teal Album, which features their Weezer-fied takes on A-ha, Tears For Fears, Michael Jackson, E.L.O. and more, plus, of course, Toto‘s “Africa.”
Last year’s second season of the Carpool series featured ride-alongs with “Weird Al” Yancovic and Lonely Island, Wiz Khalifa and Bebe Rexha, Trya Banks and Lil Yachty and Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber. A spokesperson for Apple confirmed that the shoot is for an upcoming episode of the series that will air at an as-yet-unannounced date. It was unknown at press time when the third season of the series will debut.
