Weezer released a video for their new song “High As a Kite” as well as another new track “Living in L.A.” from their upcoming self-titled album, dubbed the Black Album, on Thursday (Feb. 21).
In the vintage-y music video, the L.A.-based band perform the upbeat tune on a kids’ TV show called Mister Rivers’ Neighborhood to a studio audience full of children and their parents.
Things soon turn a bit dark as the audience pays closer attention to the lyrics behind the rock track. “I feel no pain, I feel no pleasure/ I only want to disappear/ So let me play this game for children/ And vanish into the atmosphere,” lead vocalist Rivers Cuomo sings.
The other latest addition to the Black Album (due out on March 1), “Living in L.A.,” is a faster-tempo tune with a catchy hook. “This girl I like/ I’m talking ’bout this girl I like/ But I feel so lonely, feel so lonely/ Yeah, I’m living in L.A.,” Cuomo sings.
The quartet is also gearing up for another leg of tour, which kicks off on March 8.
