Walk The Moon, Bloc Party and Calvin Harris performed at the Fallout 4 launch event in Los Angeles on Thursday. The star-studded party was reminiscent of an old-school rave, as attendees were given the address of the secret downtown location just 24 hours, or less, before the event began.

The warehouse, located in an up-and-coming industrial area of downtown LA, was converted into a 1950s fallout shelter, which mirrors the popular video game franchise. The lucky guests roamed the expansive space while noshing on all-American fare, including In-N-Out burgers, hot dogs, Fruit Loop and M&M donuts and concession stands complete with free throwback candy. Celebs were out in full force, including Halle Berry, Kaley Cuoco, January Jones and a pregnant Chrissy Teigen, who, following a walk down the black carpet, headed to shelter in the upstairs VIP area.
Walk the Moon’s ‘Shut Up and Dance’ Breaks Record Atop Hot Rock Songs Chart
Ohio rockers Walk the Moon kicked off the night with a short set that concluded with their breakthrough hit “Shut Up and Dance.” The crowd was pretty mellow up until that point when the energy of the space ramped up and the raging began.
Following Walk the Moon, the rotating stage turned 180 degrees to show Bloc Party’s equipment. They took the stage for a 45-minute set, which featured a host of new songs, including “Good News, “Exes” and their single “The Love Within,” after which frontman Kele Okereke joked he was happy to be at the event celebrating Fall Out Boy. The British rockers also performed energetic versions of “Banquet,” “Positive Tension” and “Helicopter,” all from their 2005 debut album, Silent Alarm.
This was an opportunity for the crowd to meet Bloc Party’s new members — drummer Louise Bartle and bassist Justin Harris — who have replaced Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes, respectively. The band will release their highly anticipated fifth album, Hymns, on Jan. 29.

The group also got the crowd pumped up with stellar versions of “Hunting for Witches,” “Song for Clay (Disappear Here),” and “Octopus.” Their high-octane dance song “Flux” set the stage for the night’s headliner Calvin Harris, who appeared on a platform above the crowd shortly after Bloc Party’s set.
Harris’ DJ set tested the limits of the warehouse’s sound system bordering on distortion while the pumping bass elevated hundreds to dance into the night. The Scottish DJ and producer performed a set of endless hits including “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Summer,” “I Need Your Love” and “Feel So Close.”
What is interesting is that none of the artists involved in the event have songs featured in the new video game, but they certainly draw a crowd — and a hip, leather-jacket-clad one at that. The marketing brass at Bethesda Game Studios (makers of the gaming franchise) tapped a young, social-media savvy and selfie-taking audience, who had a lot to work with, to help spread the word.
Fallout 4 will be released on Tuesday (Nov. 10). The first person shooter game will be available on many platforms including PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
