Vince Neil’s mother has died after a battle with stage 4 cancer. The former Mötley Crüe lead singer remembered “Grandma Shirley” in a series of tweets on Tuesday (July 31), after first sharing her cancer diagnosis last month.
“It’s with a sad heart that I tell you of the passing of my mom affectionately known as Grandma Shirley. She loved rock and roll and Facebook,” wrote Neil on Twitter. “She’ll be missed by me and hundreds of others. A true love of my life. Thank you for your concern and prayers. It meant a lot. God bless.”

Neil followed up with another tweet, which also included a photo of him with his mother. He added: “Life is so fragile and precious. We must kiss every moment in life – so we do not waste a single one. I love you mom.”

Just two days after sharing the news, Neil was set to perform at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany. He tweeted that it was with a “heavy heart” that he would be performing at the festival, but insisted, adding “on with the show.”
He later shared a photo of the crowd with the caption: “Thank you @Wacken Germany for your support!!”
