At a campaign rally in Elvis Presley‘s hometown of Tupelo, Miss., on Monday night (Nov. 26), President Trump told the crowd that back in the day, not to sound “very conceited,” people used to tell him he looked like The King.
“Other than the blond hair, when I was growing up they said I looked like Elvis,” Trump said at the airport rally in support of Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, who is facing off with Democrat Mike Espy in a run-off election on Tuesday (Nov. 27).
“Can you believe it? I always considered that a great compliment…we love Elvis, don’t we?” Trump asked the crowd according to USA Today.

The President’s trip came as Hyde-Smith’s once-commanding lead over Espy has narrowed in recent weeks in the wake of a series of revelations about the state’s junior senator, who was appointed to office in April by the governor. Hyde-Smith has drawn unwanted attention to her candidacy thanks to a comment she made about gladly taking a “front row” seat at a “public hanging,” while speaking of her affection for a long-time supporter in a state with a grim history of lynchings and hangings of its black citizens.
The fervent Trump supporter has also taken heat for pictures in which she’s seen wearing a full Confederate soldier’s uniform while promoting tourism at Confederate president Jefferson Davis’s homestead and for attending a segregation academy in the 1970s, at a time when Mississippi and several other states were looking for ways to get around the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling that mandated public schools in the U.S. to desegregate.
Elvis was born in a shotgun shack in Tupelo on Jan. 8, 1935, 11 years before Trump’s birth in June 1946. Trump’s claim came 10 days after he posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the late rock icon.

Trump is also like Elvis in that he takes credit for stuff a Black person did first.

Trump claims he looked like Elvis growing up and that is true except he was fat, ginger and side stepped his military obligations. Other than that identical twins. #disillusion2018 pic.twitter.com/W6r7YTF4rt

Elvis Presley was drafted at the height of his career and served 2 years in the Army. Donald Trump received 5 deferments and still hasn’t visited our troops in a combat zone. Yeah, they’re exactly the same person. https://t.co/TNozXX8ZB8

This is obviously yet another of his narcissistic lies, but he actually does resemble 1970’s Elvis a little bit pic.twitter.com/amzgOcoHIh
