Six months ago, Trent Reznor announced that although he was tinkering with new music, most of his attention was on his role with Apple Music. It looks like that’s about to change.
“New NIN coming in 2016,” the bandleader tweeted today (Dec. 18). “Other stuff, too”

For now, this is all we know — no album titles, artwork, or anything like that. But now, Nine Inch Nails fans can at least expect the follow-up to 2013’s Hesitation Marks some time during the next 12 months.
“It’s not a record I’m trying to finish in a month,” he told Rolling Stone back in June. “It’s more just feeling around in the dark and seeing what sounds interesting. It’s nice to do that every few years to try and reinvent and discover and try to learn about yourself and what feels exciting to you as an artist.”
Given today’s statement, it certainly sounds like Reznor has progressed past the “feeling around in the dark” phase over the past few months.
Reznor also spent his 2015 in the aforementioned Apple Music role, helping design its Beats 1 radio station.
We leave you with “Came Back Haunted,” the angsty lead single from Hesitation Marks. Have a great weekend and happy holidays!
